Our first full day in the Peak District, after a hearty breakfast we were off... Only a two mile walk into Castleton...

Peveril Castle...

Todays target... The summit of Mam Tor...

We chose to go up through Cave Dale...

Which is to the rear of Peveril Castle... A fine view of the Norman toilet ( small window to the left)...

Onwards and upwards through Cave Dale...

Looking behind us...

The view down Cave Dale...

Hazel with Mam Tor in the background...

Out of Cave Dale and heading towards Windy Knoll... Mam Tor can be seen in the distance...

The view towards Win Hill (the small bump left of centre) from Windy Knoll...

Ascending Mam Tor now we see the limestone gorge known as Winnats Pass...

Looking towards Mam Nick (I think!) - this is where the hang gliders normally jump from...

Hazel walking up the path to the sumit of Mam Tor...

The road (and view) to the Edale Valley...

Hazel at the Trig Point on the summit of Mam Tor...

Looking over the Great Ridge towards Lose Hill... Our descent is going to be from Hollins Cross

Looking down into the Hope Valley (this is where we stopped for a bite to eat!)...

Close up view (from Mam Tor) of Winnats Pass....

Peveril Castle from Mam Tor...

Hollins Cross from Mam Tor...

Win Hill from Mam Tor...

The old broken road form the path we used to descend into Castleton from Hollins Cross...

Mam Tor from the path below Hollins Cross...

Winnats Pass from the path below Hollins Cross... and then it was off into Castleton for a look round the shops and then walked back to Hope...

I've wanted to have a crack at some night shots for a while with the new camera so I thought I'd have a crack at it - must remember to take the tripod next time!!) - these are all from outside the tent...

Atmosphere...

Leaves and Twigs...

Thought I'd see what it's look like in monchrome, so I switched to monochrome and upped the ISO rating to 3200... I knew it'd be a tad grainy...
