Today saw us make a visit to Alford and in particular the five-sailed Windmill, then later on I walked from Mablethorpe into Sutton-on-Sea...

First floor of the windmill...

Outside looking up at the sails...

The rear or the mill, acts like a weather vane...

The underside of one of the milling stones...

The top side of the milling stone...

The sack hoist chains...

Sail going past the window...

The sail has gone past the window and is still moving and left a dark part and a light part where the sun is coming back into view...

Outside again...

Long shots...

Looking up from ground level...

My first full day on holiday this year saw me in Mablethorpe to start with, and then over to Saltfleet for the evening...

When we arrived there was quite a bit of sea-fret...

It started to clear during the day, thats when I spotted this "dragon" in the sky...

Went back to the beach, as you can see, it's cleared up enough for these two gulls to "stand talking"....

And then, just as soon as it disappeared, I spotted the sea-fret back out to sea...

And in it came, up the beach...

And it continued.. so, headed for Saltfleet...

Bunch of dried thistle heads....

Single dried thistle with bits of flower left...

Sea heather...

20 July 2008

We went into Mablethorpe this afternoon with my two nieces...

Chloe and Bobbi walking down the Promenade...

The reason we'd gone to Mablethorpe this afternoon was because we'd heard there was going to be some visitors... And there was... This came in first... The Supermarine Spitfire (not sure which Mark though)...

He did quite a lot of flying back and forth up the beach...

At one time even flying upside down...

And then, all too soon a few twists and turns...

and then he was off home...

And then half hour later, the Douglas DC3 Dakota came into view...

He too, did a couple of forays up and down the beach...

And then a turn and off he went too...

Still, it gave me a chance to use the "sport" setting on the camera...
