For this one, we decided to walk up the hill above the Heatherdene Car Park... this took us along Bamford Edge...this was a windy day walk....

Came across this little trickling brook as we came out of the wood during our ascension...


A quick look over the road to Win Hill...



And a quick look to the right at the Ladybower Reservoir


But, alas, all too soon the weather changes on us...


Nothing around us except the heather...


Luckily the rain stopped (although the wind was howling through the wall we were sat against) enough for us to finda little corner to grab something to eat...Jack, as ever, looking hopeful...


The terrain around where we sat and ate was a tad rocky...


But the view over to Ladybower was worth it...


As we levelled up and headed over to the edge we kept coming across little brooks running through the heather...


Weather threatening as we look over to Ladybower as we got higher....



Then we eventually reached Bamford Edge and could see down over Bamford and the surrounding area...


Although it's hard to see, this is a view looking over towards Hope... A close look should reveal the Cement Works at Hope...


A look back at Ladybower and the A57, Win Hill to our left and Whinstone Lee Tor to the right of Ladybower, with the A57 bridge just visible...


Another view over Bamford and into the Hope Valley...


And again we find somewhere to eat that is sheltered from the wind...



And after something to eat, we decide to make our way back.. but we dont go back the way we came.. we find a route down from Bamford Edge through the rocks and take that...

But still high enough over Ladybower to see quite a way...

For this walk we went over to Edale and started on the Pennine Way, intending to get as far as Hollins Cross (at the very least - again we were constrained by how much light we would have left)...

Thought I'd take a photo of the church as we headed into the village, I forgot I'd left the camera set on artificial light...


It was wet when we arrived and set off... we can see here that a fair amount of rain is coming out of the hills...


And then, just as soon as it's stopped rainign it brightens up as we hit the Pennine Way...


And then it begins again, it was a very on/off kind of day with the rain...


Came across this bench as we went through a field...





Dave with the remnants of Mam Tor in the background as the Edale Valley is spread out behind him...



And of course, no photo would be complete without one of me too...


About two/three miles further on from the bench the weather again took a turn for the worst, we cant complain really... it is December...!!





And then it brightens up again as we approach the foot of Jacobs Ladder...


And here we are... At the bottom of Jacobs Ladder...


And the water course at the side of the ladder's bottom


Stopped and turned round as we were ascending, looking back over the Edale Valley...


At the top of Jacobs Ladder, Jack (Dave's spaniel) seems to have no trouble running up the hill....


And then as we reach the top, where the path splits to Hollins Cross we can go no further because the weather has definitely taken a turn for the worse with the wind and the horizontal rain. We decide to call it a day and head back to the car park...



And then as we descend Jacobs Ladder the weather changes again.. but by this time Dave has wet feet and it's no good walking with wet feet...

This was a walk from Crowden, following the Brook from Crowden into the hills...

This little dam is a short walk from the Car Park, just off the A628


Then it's off, following the brook...


Some interesting rock formations... this one looks like a dogs (others say a bears) head...


We had quite a bit of climbing to do at some points...


But we think it was worth it to see this waterfall, very much off the beaten track...





From the waterfall, we figured it'd be a struggle (with the light - it was November!!) to continue going forward, so we went up...which led to being able to take this photo of the brook we'd along...


Coming back we walked back on the opposite side of the brook and came across this waterfall, that we'd missed on the way up...

This was a walk around the Ladybower Reservoir area, we parked at the Heatherdene Car Park and hiked up the opposite side of the road, following a pre-planned route...

As we were leaving the Car park we came across this seat and just had to have our pics taken...
