18 March 2006

Our first hike up to Whinstone Lee Tor... Another cold, damp day...

We left Fairholmes Car Park and headed towards the Derwent Dam...

Just to make sure no one jumps in or washes their clothes... Five pound fine if you're caught!

Water trickling over the dam wall... although it's louder than what it looks like...

Dave at the side of the dam...

and myself...

Dave, those are wooden mushrooms... You cant fry them up...

A view up the Ladybower Reservoir...

*sigh* Why is it that we are always going up hills? Our target is the hill at the back...

Mind you, the views are worth the exertion!

Dave with Ladybower behind him...

and myself, with Spike and Jack admiring the view too...

Some of the views from Whinstone Lee Tor...

And then, as is the normal when we go out, the weather changes...

Yes Jack, we're going down that way...

And on the way down we came across this brook...

12 March 2006

This saw us going out for our first walk in the snow... For this walk we were joined by Rebecca, Robert and one of Roberts friends...

We parked in the Surprise View car park just off the A6187 road...

We must be mad, going hiking in this..

Still, they all did well lifting this rock...

A measure of how cold it was...

And Robert couldn't resist breaking it off and sucking on it...

A shot down into the valley shows the weather conditions...

The hill in the distance is our destination...Once we've clambered over these rocks...

A touch closer...

Got there, time to climb up now...

A look behind us to show where we were and the path we'd taken...

Trust Robert to find a rock shaped like a chair!!!!

And a "slide"...

And then, all too soon, it's time to head back to the car...

No change in the weather on our way back to the car park...
