13 July 2008

In a departure from the norm, I did this walk with my eldest daughter Rebecca. Dave was still in bed asleep...

Looking into the Crowden Great Brook Valley...

Part of the brook, as it runs into the weir behind us...

Rebecca showing she has some "stile"... Sorry, I couldn''t resist it!

Heading up to the Crowden part of The Pennine Way...

And just to prove I was there!

This waterfall was on the opposite side of the Pennine Way to where we sat for lunch...

And this one was about twelve feet away from the one above...

A couple of views down into the valley from where we were sat...

The banking above Crowden Great Brook...

Rebecca sneaking a photo of me... resting...

View across the valley...

Rebecca with the view behind her...

Came across this waterfall.. we had to cross it... not hard...

Me cupping my hands to get some water to cool my head down...

After wetting my head...

Getting ready (with wet head) to continue, onwards and upwards...

A view into the valley from the waterfall...

View over to the opposite end of the National Park, I believe, in the distance is Bamford Edge...

Rebecca on the phone to her mum, telling her how high she is and what views she's got...

View down into the valley with Crowden Great Brook...

At this point, Rebecca decided she wanted to go to the brook... It's only around 300 metres below us... So, off we went... Just a pic to show you how steep the ground was that we walked down...

Quarter of the way down...

Still got all this to go...

Rebecca came down most of the way sat down...

This resulted in her jeans getting ripped...

Still not at the brook, but a quick look back up to where we had been... You can just see someone on the edge...

Of course, on the way down we came across lots of Common Cotton-Grass...

Close up of Common Cotton-Grass...

Not far to go now... Only another hundred or so metres.. I kept telling Rebecca we only had twenty feet to go.. I think she didn't believe me after the eighth time ...

Lots of heather about too... Close up of heather flowers...

And then we were down on the floor of the brook.. Lots of water courses...
